Governance
The New Horizons Academy Trust governance model consists of Members, a Board of Trustees and NHAT Local Governing Bodies. The Trustees approve the appointment of governors to the LGBs.
Members
The New Horizons Academy Trust Members are signatories to the Articles of Association which includes definition of the trust's charitable object and governance structure. They attend annual general meetings.
Board of Trustees
The New Horizons Academy Trust Board of Trustees has overall responsibility for the strategic direction of the Trust. The Board of Trustees operate according to the terms laid out in the Articles of Association. The Trustees are supported in their work by a Company Secretary, who attends all Trustee meetings.
Key responsibilities include:
- Setting the values, aims and objectives of New Horizons Academy Trust;
- Agreeing a policy framework for achieving the agreed aims and objectives;
- Appointing the Headteachers of the NHAT Academies;
- Defining and delegating responsibilities to the Local Governing Bodies.
Local Governing Bodies
The Local Governing Body (LGB) is a committee of New Horizons Academy Trust and is delegated responsibility for the conduct of the academy and for promoting high standards. The LGB aims to ensure that children are attending a successful academy which provides them with a high quality education and supports their well-being. LGBs have a range of key responsibilities which are laid out in the academy’s Scheme of Delegation.
